Summary
- Set a default plan once - for example, a set number of payments across a set number of months - and reuse it rather than rebuilding the schedule each time.
- Apply a plan to a single invoice or to a customer’s whole outstanding balance, editing the instalment amounts and dates from the default if needed.
- If an instalment is missed, Trove chases only that instalment. Future instalments carry on untouched and the customer isn’t chased for money that isn’t due yet.
- The invoice stays as one invoice in Xero.
1. Set your default plan
Set a default plan structure once, for example a set number of payments over a set number of months, so you’re not rebuilding it every time. This becomes the starting template you apply and tweak when needed.
2. Apply it to a customer balance or an invoice
Apply the plan to a single invoice or to a customer’s whole outstanding balance, and edit the instalment amounts and dates before confirming, so the plan fits what you actually agreed with the customer.
3. Late instalments are chased on their own
This is the key difference from running a plan manually in Xero. If an instalment is missed, Trove chases only that instalment. The rest of the plan carries on untouched, and the customer isn’t chased for money that isn’t due yet.
Get started
Payment plans in Trove turn a manual, easy-to-forget arrangement into something scheduled and self-chasing. For the full picture on when and how to use one, see the payment plans guide and when to offer a payment plan.
